Driveshaft Dynamic Damper Replacement

1.Remove the inboard joint.

2.Remove the dynamic damper bands. Be careful not to damage the dynamic damper.

  • If the boot band is a welded type, cut the boot band.
  • If the boot band is a double loop type, lift up the band bend, and push it into the clip.
  • If the boot band is a low profile type, pinch the boot band using a commercially available boot band pincers.

3.Wrap the splines on the driveshaft with vinyl tape (A) to prevent damage to the dynamic damper.

4.Remove the dynamic damper. Be careful not to damage the dynamic damper.

5.Adjust the position of the new dynamic damper to the figure follow.

R16A1 or R18A1 engine models: 
 Left driveshaft: 
 M/T: 292.5-297.5 mm (11.70-11.90 in.) 
A/T: 274.5-279.5 mm (10.98-11.18 in.) 
Right driveshaft: 
 M/T: 292.5-297.5 mm (11.70-11.90 in.) 
A/T: 558-563 mm (22.32-22.52 in.) 

K20Z2 engine models: 
 Left driveshaft: 
 M/T: 292.5-297.5 mm (11.70-11.90 in.) 
A/T: 292.5-297.5 mm (11.70-11.90 in.) 

 

6.Install the dynamic damper band.

7.Install the inboard joint.
