A transient high tension (25,000 V) occurs at the bulb sockets or the high intensity discharge (HID) lamps when the combination light switch is turned ON, it may cause serious electrical shock or electrocution if you do not observe the cautions below. |
|
1. | Check the No. 16 (15 A), No. 17 (15 A) and No. 21 (30 A) fuses in the under-hood fuse/relay box. Are fuses OK? YES - Go to 2. NO - Replace the fuse(s), and recheck.n |
2. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
3. | Disconnect the battery negative cable, then disconnect the positive cable. |
4. | Remove the HID bulb. |
5. | Check the luminescence part of the bulb.
Is there black discoloration or transformation? YES - Replace the HID bulb(s) and recheck.n NO - Go to 6. |
6. | Substitute the right and left HID bulb. Does the symptom change right and left? YES - Replace the HID bulb(s) and recheck.n NO - Go to 7. |
7. | Install the HID bulb and bulb socket. Is the state of installation OK? YES - Replace the bulb socket and recheck.n NO - Go to 8. |
8. | Check the intuition combination part (A) of the bulb socket.
Is the intuition combination part OK? YES - Replace the bulb socket and recheck.n NO - Go to 9. |
9. | Disconnect the HID unit 2P connector. |
10. | Turn the combination light switch ON. |
11. | Measure voltage between the No. 2 terminal of the HID unit 2P connector and body ground.
Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to 12. NO - Go to 13. |
12. | Check for continuity between the No. 1 terminal of the HID unit 2P connector and body ground.
Is there continuity? YES - Faulty HID unit.n NO - Repair an open in the wire between the HID unit and body ground. If the wire is OK, check for poor ground at G201 or G301.n |
13. | Measure voltage between the No. 17 terminal of the under-dash fuse/relay box connector G (21P) or No. 4 terminal of the under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (34P) and body ground.
Is there battery voltage? YES - Repair an open in the wire between the HID unit and under-dash fuse/relay box G (21P).n NO - Check the combination light switch. If the combination light switch is OK, the MICU is faulty; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box.n |
