| DTC P2138: | APP Sensor A/B (Throttle Position Sensor D/E) Incorrect Voltage Correlation |
| 1. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II). |
| 2. | Clear the DTC with HDS. |
| 3. | Press the accelerator pedal to the floor. |
| 4. | Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2138 indicated? YES - Go to 5. NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the APP sensor and the ECM/PCM.n |
| 5. | Check APP SENSOR A and APP SENSOR B in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Are they the same voltage? YES - Go to 6. NO - Go to 11. |
| 6. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
| 7. | Jump the SCS line with the HDS. |
| 8. | Disconnect the APP sensor 6P connector. |
| 9. | Disconnect ECM/PCM connector A (44P). |
| 10. | Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminals A17 and A18.
Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wires between the ECM/PCM A17 (APSA line) and A18 (APSB line), then go to 13. NO - Go to 21. |
| 11. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
| 12. | Replace the accelerator pedal module. |
| 13. | Reconnect all connectors. |
| 14. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II). |
| 15. | Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS. |
| 16. | Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure. |
| 17. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
| 18. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II). |
| 19. | Press the accelerator pedal to the floor. |
| 20. | Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P2138 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the APP sensor and the ECM/PCM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - Troubleshooting is complete.n |
| 21. | Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM. |
| 22. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
| 23. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II). |
| 24. | Press the accelerator pedal to the floor. |
| 25. | Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P2138 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the APP sensor and the ECM/PCM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - If the ECM/PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the ECM/PCM was substituted, replace the original ECM/PCM.n |
