DTC Troubleshooting: P250B (168)

DTC P250B:  Engine Oil Level Sensor Range/Performance Problem


NOTE:

1.Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min-1) without load (in Park or neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.

2.Check the TOIL in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is 50 °C (122 °F) or more indicated?


YES - Go to 3.


NO - Keep idling until the value of TOIL becomes 50 °C (122 °F) or more, then go to 3.


3.Check the OLVLCND in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is it OK?


YES - Go to 4.


NO - Keep idling until the screen indicates ‘‘OK'', then go to 4.


4.Maintain idling for 2 minutes.

5.Note the value of LOIL in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

6.Stop the engine, but stop the ignition switch with ON (II) position.

7.Wait 5 minutes.

8.Check the LOIL in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

9.Compare the value of LOIL and the recorded value of LOIL

Does the value of LOIL differ 2 mm (0.08 in.) or more?


YES - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check the engine oil level and condition.n


NO - Go to 10.


10.Replace the engine oil level sensor.

11.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

12.Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS.

13.Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure.

14.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.

Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?


YES - If DTC P250B is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the engine oil level sensor and the ECM/PCM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.


NO - Troubleshooting is complete.n
