Special Tools Required
Sub hanger stay ( 07MAK-PY30100)
| 1. | Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio or the navigation system, then write down the customer's audio presets. |
| 2. | Secure the hood in the wide open position (support rod in the lower hole).
|
| 3. | Relieve the fuel pressure. |
| 4. | Disconnect the negative cable from the battery first, then disconnect the positive cable. |
| 5. | Remove the battery. |
| 6. | Remove the air cleaner housing assembly. |
| 7. | Remove the under-cowl panel. |
| 8. | Remove the injector cover.
|
| 9. | Remove the quick-connect fitting cover (A), then disconnect the fuel feed hose.
|
| 10. | Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister hose (A), brake booster vacuum hose (B), and power steering (P/S) hose clamp (C).
|
| 11. | Remove the battery cables (A) from the under-hood fuse/relay box.
|
| 12. | Remove the harness clamps (B). |
| 13. | Remove the engine control module (ECM)/ powertrain control module (PCM) cover (A), then remove the three bolts (B) securing the ECM/PCM.
|
| 14. | Disconnect the ECM/PCM connectors (A) and the engine wire harness connectors (B).
|
| 15. | Remove the harness clamps (C). |
| 16. | Remove the two bolts (A) securing the harness holder, then remove the harness clamp (B) (M/T).
|
| 17. | Remove the shift cable (M/T): |
| 18. | Remove the clutch slave cylinder, and clutch line bracket mounting bolt (M/T): |
| 19. | Remove the drive belt. |
| 20. | Remove the radiator cap. |
| 21. | Raise the vehicle on the hoist to full height. |
| 22. | Remove the front wheels. |
| 23. | Remove the splash shield.
|
| 24. | Loosen the drain plug in the radiator, and drain the engine coolant. |
| 25. | Drain the engine oil. |
| 26. | Drain the transmission fluid:
|
| 27. | Remove exhaust pipe A.
|
| 28. | Remove the shift cable (A/T). |
| 29. | Separate the stabilizer links. |
| 30. | Separate the knuckles from the lower arms. |
| 31. | Remove the driveshafts. Coat all precision-finished surfaces with clean engine oil. Tie plastic bags over the driveshaft ends. |
| 32. | Remove the power steering (P/S) pump without disconnecting the P/S hoses from the pump (with P/S).
|
| 33. | Remove the steering gearbox bracket. NOTE: 33 describe steering gearbox removal for the LHD model with hydraulic assisted power steering; RHD model is symmetrical. If you remove the gearbox on the model with electrical power steering, go to 38.
|
| 34. | Remove the steering gearbox mounting bolt (A), stiffener mounting bolt (B), and stiffener (C).
|
| 35. | Remove the bolt (D) securing the power steering fluid line bracket. |
| 36. | Remove the steering gearbox mounting bolt (A), stiffener mounting bolt (B), and stiffener (C).
|
| 37. | Remove the bolt (A) securing the power steering fluid line bracket (B), and remove the power steering fluid line (C) from the clamp (D).
|
| 38. | Remove the steering gearbox bracket mounting bolts. NOTE: 38 describe gearbox removal for electrical power steering model.
|
| 39. | Remove the steering gearbox mounting bolt (A), stiffener mounting bolt (B), and stiffener (C).
|
| 40. | Remove the steering gearbox mounting bolt (A), stiffener mounting bolt (B), and stiffener (C).
|
| 41. | Remove the bolt securing the harness clamp bracket.
|
| 42. | Lower the vehicle on the hoist. |
| 43. | Remove the radiator. |
| 44. | Disconnect the A/C compressor clutch connector (A), then remove the harness clamp (B) (With A/C).
|
| 45. | Remove the A/C compressor (C) without disconnecting the A/C hoses (With A/C). |
| 46. | Remove the heater hoses.
|
| 47. | Remove the ground cable (A), then install the special tool (Commercially available tool for EU models).
|
| 48. | Attach the special tools (Commercially available tool for EU models) to the engine as shown.
|
| 49. | Make sure the hoist brackets are positioned properly. Raise the hoist to full height. |
| 50. | Remove the lower torque rod. M/T A/T |
| 51. | Make the appropriate reference lines (A) at both ends of the subframe that line up with the body (B).
|
| 52. | Loosen the mid-stiffener mounting bolts (A) on both sides.
|
| 53. | Support the front subframe (A) with the wood piece (B) and a jack.
|
| 54. | Remove the subframe.
|
| 55. | Make sure the hoist brackets are positioned properly. Lower the vehicle on the hoist. |
| 56. | Remove the side engine mount bracket mounting bolt and nut.
|
| 57. | Remove the transmission mounting bolt and nuts (A). M/T A/T |
| 58. | Remove the ground cable (B). |
| 59. | Check that the engine/transmission is completely free of vacuum hoses, fuel and coolant hoses, and electrical wiring. |
| 60. | Slowly lower the engine/transmission assembly about 150 mm (6 in.). Check once again that all hoses and electrical wiring are disconnected and free from the engine/transmission, then lower it all the way. |
| 61. | Disconnect the chain hoist from the engine/ transmission assembly. |
| 62. | Raise the vehicle all the way, and remove the engine/transmission assembly from under the vehicle. |
